Hevel Group has built and commissioned a modern automated hybrid power plant for Sakhaenergo JSC in the settlement of Sangar, Kobyaysky District, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The project was implemented with the support of regional and municipal authorities under an energy service contract between Hevel Energoservice and Sakhaenergo. This financial model guarantees cost recovery and upgrades infrastructure without increasing utility tariffs for residents by reducing the costs associated with the expensive delivery of imported diesel fuel.
Construction of the facility resolved the issue of the remote area's reliance on fuel logistics, improved the environmental situation, and established reliable conditions for the social and economic development of the community, which has a population of over 3,200 people.
Power Complex Composition and Technologies
The energy facility integrates three generation sources and an energy management component:
- Solar generation: A photovoltaic power plant with a baseline capacity of 1 MW, expandable to 2 MW.
- Diesel generation: Six modern, high-efficiency diesel generator sets (DGS) with a total capacity of 6.3 MW.
- Energy Storage System (ESS): A storage unit with a capacity of 1 MW and an energy storage rating of 1 MWh.
Operating Mode
The hybrid complex operates in an automated mode:
- During daytime hours, electricity from solar modules feeds into the general grid alongside the diesel generators, partially displacing the load and saving fuel.
- The energy storage system instantly smooths out the power fluctuations of the solar power plant caused by passing clouds, enhancing the stability of the entire power grid.
- During the summer months, during peak solar insulation hours, the storage unit and solar plant ensure a completely autonomous operation mode for the settlement without utilizing diesel generation.
