Chkalovskaya Solar Power Plant

Hevel's largest solar power plant in the Orenburg Region

The Chkalovskaya Solar Power Plant, rated at 30 MW, is located in the Orenburg Region, near the village of Chkalov. The Orenburg Region was chosen as a site for construction of a network of large solar parks due to the high level of incoming solar radiation in the region, as well as the presence of large flat areas and distribution lines, which makes it possible to efficiently generate electricity.

Construction of the solar power plant began in May 2018, and it was put into operation in 2019. The solar power plant covers 80 hectares, with 100,000 photovoltaic modules rated at 300 and 310 W installed on the territory.

The Chkalovskaya Solar Power Plant is built on heterojunction solar modules produced at the Hevel plant in Novocheboksarsk. The efficiency of a solar cell on such modules reaches 23.3%. All other components for the plant, including inverter equipment and supporting structures, were also manufactured in Russia.

SOLAR POWER GENERATION
25,5 million kWh
AVERAGE ANNUAL SPP OUTPUT

The forecasted annual production at the Chkalovskaya Solar Power Plant reaches total 25.5 million kWh, which eliminates 13,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and saves 7.6 million cubic meters of natural gas annually.

In one year of operation (from March 2019 to March 2020), the solar power plant generated 38.9 million kWh. This is enough to supply more than 120,000 households with electricity.

The solar power plant is equipped with an automated power supply management system to control operating parameters. This makes it possible to quickly correct malfunctions if they arise.

This project is unique in that it is one of the first solar power plants used to supply electricity to the 110-kV high-voltage grid.
